Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
Employers - this is for you
Workers - this is what your employer must complete with our help in order for you to work in Canada
A Labour Market Impact Assessment - also known as an LMIA - is a document from the Government of Canada that gives the employer permission to hire a foreign worker. The LMIA (which must be a positive decision) is the first stage approval before a person is able to apply for a work permit. We can assist the employer in getting the LMIA (first stage approval) and the worker in obtaining their visa and work permit.
Working with us will give you an edge over other applicants as we ensure a professionally prepared application.
What exactly does a positive LMIA prove?
If you receive a positive LMIA from service Canada, this means that you as an employer could not find any Canadians to fill a job position and that there is a genuine need for a foreign worker to fill the position.
Keep in mind there are many exemptions for the need to go through the LMIA process. Depending on your circumstances, you may apply for a work permit without a positive LMIA.
